The Five-hour class is designed by the New York Department of Motor Vehicles to teach drivers how to safely drive on the road, and includes other important issues. It is a mandatory course for New York State Permit Holders ages 16 and up. In order to schedule or take your road test you must complete the 5 Hour Course and receive a Completion Certificate. The only exemption to this requirement is if you have completed Drivers Education and have an MV-285. This is usually reserved for 16 and 17 year old teenagers.

This course is done by Zoom Teleconference. In order to take this course, you must email a quality, legible copy of the following:
A current NY PHOTO Learner’s Permit
Email To: FiveHour@DelightDriving.com
OR
A valid PAPER permit, with an NYS Government-issued ID card
(such as a Non-Driver ID Card, Expired NY Photo Permit, and/or Expired NY Photo License)
These documents must be emailed right after you schedule your lesson. Before scheduling make sure you are ready to do this. Scanning the documents is best. A good quality picture (cell phone) will suffice.

If you are using a phone or laptop,
Make sure your device is plugged into a power source for the lesson.
Be sure to test Zoom so you know how to use it.
YOUR ZOOM CREDENTIALS WILL BE EMAILED TO YOU!
CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER IF YOU DON’T SEE THE EMAIL.
You must have reliable internet access, to your phone or computer
Have a camera and microphone enabled on your device
Be in an environment with minimal distractions
There are no refunds for the 5-Hour class
There is a $20 charge to replace a lost or damaged 5 Hour Certificate.
